By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The number of sea arrivals to Georgia’s Black Sea port in Poti has increased by 52 percent in October 2019, compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The number of arrivals to Batumi port increased by five percent compared to the same period of last year.

In October 2018, there were 158 arrivals of ships to Poti port, while this number reached 241 in October 2019, while arrivals to Batumi port increased from 99 to 104.

The number of visits to Poti port by international visitors amounted to 2,284 in October 2019, which is an increase of 88 percent compared to October 2018.

The number of international visits to Batumi port amounted to 1,344 in October 2019, which is a 0.2-percent increase compared to the same period of last year.

While the main cargo flow passes through Poti, the disadvantage of this port is its depth, as the port is not able to accept ships with a capacity of over 1,500 containers.
