Container handling in Kazakhstan's Aktau port up by 400%

Over 10,000 TEU of containers have been handled in Kazakhstan’s Aktau port as of yet, which is 400 percent more compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC (Kazakhstan Railways).

According to the information, the increase is due to the launch of feeder route through Caspian Sea in April 2019.

“The launch of the regular feeder route provides for growth of containerization of the Caspian Sea and attracts new clients by the seep of cargo delivery,” the report said.

Furthermore, marine cargo transportation have important strategic significance for Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, launch of the feeder route from Kazakhstan’s Aktau city to Azerbaijan’s Baku city and back has become one of the key factors of cargo turnover increase of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

“The feeder route optimizes wagons, containers turnover, as well as delivery timeframe. For the most part, containers carry goods from China to Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, European countries and back,” the report said.

Load of the feeder route is 100 percent from Kazakh side.
