Russian, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan railway companies, together with Russian Export Center (REC), are working on the possibility of launching export agricultural trains across the three countries, said Project Manager for the Development of Export Logistics of REC Alevtina Kirillova on the sidelines of the International Forum "Orenburg is the Heart of Eurasia,” Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

“A draft quadripartite agreement is being worked out between Russian Railways, Kazakh Railways, Uzbek Railways and the Russian export center to launch export agricultural express trains from Russia to Uzbekistan and in the opposite direction. The project stipulates joint activities to launch cold refrigerated agricultural express trains and to establish a parity discount for this export-oriented route,” said Kirillova.

The project provides for about a 50-percent discount on the tariff by the railways of the three countries participating in the route. Kirillova added that the agreement would be similar to the Russian-Chinese agreement.

“The Russian export center acts as a definite integrator of this work and, accordingly, those exporters who will form their own mass of goods for shipment to Uzbekistan by these trains, in case of a positive decision, will receive a discount,” added the REC's project manager.

At the moment, the time of signing the corresponding agreement is not yet known; however, it is planned that discounts may already be provided in the first quarter of next year.

Agroexpresses is a service of accelerated container trains for the delivery of agricultural products, including those requiring compliance with the temperature regime.
