During first seven months (March 21-Oct. 22) of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), Iranian steel companies increased steel production by 7 percent and steel ingots production by 5 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Trend reports referring to the IMIDRO website.
During the reporting period, 15.1 million tons of steel products (billets, blooms, slabs) were produced during this period. This figure was 14.4 million tons in the same period last year.
IMIDRO reported that Iranian steel companies produced 11.7 million tons of steel products (fittings, tiles, sheets) for the seven months, while 10.9 million tons of them were produced in the same period last year.
Sponge iron production was 16.2 million tons in the reporting period compared to 15.1 million tons in the same period last year, which shows a 7-percent increase.
