Small textile enterprise opens in Azerbaijan's Tovuz district

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 16

A small sewing enterprise has been opened in Azerbaijan as part of a project implemented in the country with financial support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Head of Azerbaijan's Women Entrepreneurs Association Sakina Babayeva told Trend.

According to Sakina Babayeva, the new facility was opened in the Tovuz district of Azerbaijan.

"The cost of the project is 120,000 manat ($70,588). The project is funded by the association and SECO, and each contributes 50 percent of the funds," Babayeva said. "The opening of the new enterprise contributed to the creation of 60 jobs."

Sakina Babayeva noted that under the project, small business enterprises will be created in several regions of the country.

"The creation of small enterprises is important for the development of women's entrepreneurship in the regions, therefore, the Women Entrepreneurs Association is making efforts to improve the business environment in cities and regions through the implementation of projects aimed at improving the business climate in Azerbaijan," Babayeva said.

According to statistics, today over 143,000 women are employed in business in Azerbaijan. The Women Entrepreneurs Association was established in October 2017 with the support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children of Azerbaijan.
