Small facility in services sector opened in Azerbaijan

As part of a project being implemented in Azerbaijan with financial support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), a new beauty salon has been opened, Head of the Azerbaijani Association of Women Entrepreneurs Sakina Babayeva told Trend.

Babayeva noted that a new facility in the services sector was opened in Tovuz district.

“The project cost is 120,000 manat ($70,589),” the association head said. “The project is being financed by the Association and SECO. Each party contributes 50 percent of the financial resources. The new facility contributed to the creation of 20 job places.”

Babayeva added that the opening of a new salon is aimed at supporting the development of women’s entrepreneurship in the Azerbaijani regions.

The head of the association noted that the creation of small facilities is important for the development of women’s entrepreneurship in the regions; therefore, the association is making efforts to improve business environment in cities and regions through the implementation of projects aimed at improving business climate in Azerbaijan.

According to the statistics, over 143,000 women are involved in business activities in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Association of Women Entrepreneurs was established in October 2017 through the support of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
