Coal extraction in Kazakhstan exceeds planned volume

Actual volume of coal extraction in Kazakhstan amounted to 111.1 million tons instead of planned 107.1 million tons, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

Some 57.2 million tons of coal were sent to energy producing ventures, and 6.3 million were sent to the industrial ventures. Some 11.4 million tons of coal were used for household needs, which is 92 percent compared to 2018.

In turn, the volume of coal export amounted to nearly 28 million tons, which is 96 percent compared to 2018.

“The largest volume of coal was exported to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Ukraine and Turkey,” the report said.

Coal mining industry is one of the largest Kazakh industries and provides for 70 percent of electricity production, complete loading of coke-chemical manufacturing, completely meets the demand of household needs and of citizens.

Proved reserves of coal in Kazakhstan amount to 34 billion tons, which is 4 percent of the global reserves.
