About $ 5.2 billion worth of agricultural and food products were exported by Iran during 11 months of current Iranian year (March 21, 2019 - 19 February 2020),said Director General of Export Development Department of the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad Shahrokh Shajari, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to Shajari, 6.34 million tons of products were exported during this period.
Shajari added that 728,000 tons of watermelon, 606,000 tons of apple, 496,000 tons of tomatoe, 422,000 tons of potatoe, 374,000 tons of onion were the main products (in terms of weight) exported.
Shajari said that $628 million worth of pistachio, $309 million worth of apple, $223 million worth of tomatoes, $194 million worth of pistachio's legumes, $172 million worth of watermelon worth $172 million were the main products (in terms of value) exported.
Deputy of Minister said that 1.66 million tons of garden products worth $2.37 billion and 4.2 million tons of agricultural products worth $1.91 billion were exported.
Shajari said that 530,000 tons of animal and poultry products worth $658 million and 113,000 tons of fishing products worth $225 million were exported.
Ministry official said that $11.6 billion worth of agricultural and food products were imported during 11 month.
"About 8.13 million tons of corn feed, 3.76 million tons of barley, 2.14 million tons of compressed soybean, 1.97 million tons of soybean seed, 1.74 million tons of sugar were the main products (in terms of weight) imported," he said.
Around $1.98 billion worth of corn feed, $1.55 billion worth of rice, $954 million worth of barley, $932 million worth of compressed soybean and $854 million worth of soybean seed were the main products (in terms of value) imported.
Iran exported 6.94 million tons of agricultural and food products worth $6.39 billion in the last year of Iran (March 21, 2018 -21 March 2019). The share of agriculture in the Iranian non-oil sector exports was 14.43 percent. Also Iran imported 20.4 million tons of agricultural products worth $ 10.7 billion. The share of agriculture in the imports of Iran's non-oil sector was 26.02 percent.
