The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $1.85 billion in January-February 2020, 6 percent higher compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
As reported, the exports equaled $526.3 million (4.5-percent growth), while the imports stood at $1.32 billion (6.7-percent growth).
In the reporting period, the negative trade balance was $801.3 million, and its share in external trade turnover constituted 43.2 percent.
In January-February 2020, the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 78.6 percent. The top partners were Azerbaijan ($90.3 million), China ($65 million) and Russia ($60.4 million).
In the reporting period, the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 69.3 percent. The top partners were Turkey ($214.5 million), Russia ($138.6 million) and Azerbaijan ($135.7 million).
In January-February 2020, the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 70.9 percent. The top trading partners were Turkey ($250.6 million), Azerbaijan ($226 million) and Russia ($199 million).
