Bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and China continues

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov discussed with the Minister of Commerce of China, Zhong Shan issues of beneficial cooperation development by teleconference on April 15, 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

Zhong Shan expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for the timely assistance provided to Uzbekistan at the peak of the spread of COVID-19 in China.

In turn, the Chinese side expressed willingness to work out the issue of sending additional humanitarian aid to Uzbekistan in the form of necessary medical items, equipment, personal hygiene products to combat the pandemic, as well as to provide comprehensive assistance in eliminating its consequences.

Zhong Shan assured that the Chinese side will make every effort to successfully implement joint initiatives of Uzbekistan and China to develop bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, transport and logistics spheres.

In the near future, special attention will be paid to boosting trade in agricultural and meat and dairy products, for which the initiative to establish Uzbek-Chinese certification and phytosanitary control centers will be accelerated, the results of which will be recognized by both countries.

Also during the conversation, the two sides reiterated their commitment to continue the implementation of investment projects planned in Uzbekistan at the expense of direct Chinese investments worth over $4 billion.

At the end of the talks, the sides agreed to continue close contacts between the two ministries and to maintain direct and constant interaction, which will bring the bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.
