BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Joint meetings on the establishment of a joint Iran-Azerbaijan industrial park will resume in the near future, Governor of Iran’s Ardabil province Akbar Behnamju said, Trend reports citing official website of the Governor's Office.

According to Behnamju, meetings on the industrial park have been suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Behnamju added that the construction of a railway terminal in the Parsabad county on the border with Azerbaijan is on the agenda in the current Iranian year (started from March 20, 2020).

"A railway terminal will be built in Parsabad within the agreement on the connection of the Azerbaijan and Iran railways. Last week, consultants for the railway terminal finalized the map and design of the project. The map has been submitted to the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran and will be approved after being assessed, ”he said.

Behnamju said that agreement on construction of Parsabad railway terminal signed between Iranian Ardabil Governor's Office and Iranian Railway Company and is expected to begin in the next two months.

The governor said that the establishment of a railway terminal and a joint industrial park will have positive impact on the development of the province. Thus, exports of products from Ardabil province to the Caucasus, Central Asia and Russia will increase.
