One of the main aims of Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation (AIC) for 2020 is to increase crop yields and processing productivity while maintaining quality, and necessary measures are being taken for this, Director of the Agrarian Production and Trade Department of the corporation Ilham Bayramov told Trend on May 8.
According to him, this year, a certain amount of more productive tobacco grades was sown, the necessary support continues to be provided to the farmers at all stages of the technological map for growing products, monitoring of compliance with agricultural rules is carried out, the necessary advice and recommendations are regularly provided to farmers.
"In order to determine more productive grades meeting the soil and climatic conditions of our country, 19 types of tobacco imported from America, Brazil, France and Hungary are sown in test mode, and several innovative methods of growing tobacco and producing tobacco products are tested," said Bayramov.
Regarding the export, the director noted that if in 2019, the major part of the export fell on the CIS countries, in 2020, as a result of active marketing measures, geography of tobacco exports is expected to be diversified.
He added that issues of quality and compliance with tobacco processing standards are important for the export to various countries where factories of large cigarette manufacturing companies operate.
Last year, by the efforts of Azertutun LLC, Virginia tobacco on a total area of 410.2 hectares was sown in the district of Zagatala.
The center for the production and processing of tobacco received 2,560 tons of tobacco leaves from manufacturers. After drying in special chambers, over 407.5 tons of dried tobacco were obtained from it.
Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation has been operating since 2017.
