Azerbaijan eyes to increase export of packaging materials

Azerbaijan has recorded progress in the production of various packaging materials since early 2020, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Association of Packaging Industry Kamran Hajizade told Trend.

According to the chairman, in the 1st quarter of this year, the largest part of demand accounted for paper, plastic packaging, glass containers, packaging materials from soft plastic, as well as the materials for agricultural and food products.

“The packaging for food products is the best developing direction in the packaging industry. One of our tasks today is to expand activities in the regions of Azerbaijan,” he said. ”Almost every company annually purchases and installs new equipment for the production of packages. This is a positive factor for improving the regional economy.”

The chairman stressed that in 2020, the exports increased by 15 percent compared to the same period last year. In 2019, revenue from the export of packaging materials amounted to $450,000.

“A large share of exports in 2019 accounted for Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia, and this year the export to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is planned. We also plan to expand geography of the exports, and hold respective negotiations with foreign entrepreneurs," added Hajizade.

The Association of Packaging Industry was established in 2017 and includes enterprises for the production of paper, cardboard, metal packaging, containers made of hard and soft plastic and glass. The association is the main regional supplier of water producers.

The organization includes more than 60 packaging manufacturing companies from all over the country. The association is the main supplier of water producers such as Borjomi, Natakhtari in the region.
