Iran announces volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in ports

The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo in Iranian ports amounted to 18.84 million tons, from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date (May 24), Trend reports citing Port and Martime Organization of Iran.

According to the report, this year, the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo in Iranian ports decreased by 33 percent compared to the same period last year. During the same period last year, 28.12 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded.

The cargoes were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereydunkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 6.14 million tons of oil were loaded and unloaded. This is a decrease of 20.2 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (7.69 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 0.22 million tons during the reporting period. This is a decrease by 37.1 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (over 0.34 million tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 2.34 million tons, which is 46.1 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (4.33 million tons).

The general cargo volume was 1.96 million tons. This is a decrease by 46.2 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (3.64 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume was 7.88 million tons. This is a decrease of 31.4 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (over 11.48 million tons).

Liquid bulk cargo was 0.53 million tons. This is 45.9 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (0.98 million tons).
