Iran's export via borders triples

Trend:

Iran's export via borders has increased threefold, more than volume of the country's import, said the acting Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Hossein Modares Khayabani, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"All businesses, including those dealing with shipments, have been affected by sanctions," he said.

Yet, Khayabani noted that private sector could become the driving force behind the production leap that Iran requires in the current times.

"Some $400 million worth of goods are in Iran's ports, some 1 million tons are in warehouses," he said.

He said the production leap isn't possible without export, so the border trade plays a significant role here - some 60 percent of Iran's goods are exported through borders.

"We are trying to supply foreign currency to have production units import necessary basic material. So we're trying to connect importers with exporters," said Khayabani.

"If we seek to boost the domestic production, an important plan is to supply basic goods to factories," he added.

"The president has insisted on activating mines in the country and we seek to review the inactive mines in provinces and Iran Chamber of Cooperatives will handle these mines," he said.
