Azerbaijan reveals last year's fish export data

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24

By Fidan Babayeva – Trend:

About 382 tons of fish were exported from Azerbaijan in 2019, Chairman of the Fish Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan Zaur Salmanli told Trend.

Salmanli said that 1,501 tons of fish were supplied to the domestic market.

“Due to the small volume and limited assortment of exported fish products, the range of partners has narrowed. The priority countries for exporting fish since the beginning of 2020 have been Russia, Romania and Bulgaria,” the chairman said.

Speaking about how the COVID-19 has affected the industry, Salmanli said that equipment at the enterprises is imported from abroad, and installation is carried out by experts of the manufacturing countries.

"Currenltly, they're unable to come to Azerbaijan due to imposed restrictions. So there are certain delays. All this in turn, delays the commissioning of facilities under construction,” noted the chairman.

The Fish Producers and Exporters Association was established on July 23, 2019 under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture.
