Volume of loaded, unloaded cargo in Iranian ports revealed

The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo in Iranian ports amounted to 47.41 million tons from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date (August 16), Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo in Iranian ports in the current Iranian year decreased by 26.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. About 64.32 million tons of cargo was loaded and unloaded in the same period last Iranian year.

The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Bandar Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 16.78 million tons of oil was loaded and unloaded. This is a decrease of 10 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (18.64 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 0.63 million tons during the reporting period. This is a decrease by 28.2 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (over 0.87 million tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 6.83 million tons, which is 34.9 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (10.49 million tons).

The general cargo volume stood at 6.53 million tons showing 20.4-percent decrease compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (8.2 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume reached 16.07 million tons. This is a decrease of 36 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (over 25.1 million tons).

Liquid bulk cargo was 1.2 million tons. This is 36.6 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (1.9 million tons).
