BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 21

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbekistan's Jizzax Organic cluster will have three main areas including the production of marble beef, the production of A2 milk and breeding Dorper sheep, PR Director of the company Timur Musin told Trend in an interview.

According to him, the cluster is currently under construction.

The Uzbek government has handed over 10,714 hectares of land to the cluster. The volume of investments in the cluster projects, which are planned to be implemented up to 2022, is $150 million.

“At the moment, 5,600 hectares of various crops have been sown, as the cluster plans to create its own feed base for animals,” Musin said.

He added that Jizzax Organic will receive 5,000 heads of high-class cattle from Russia and the US in September 2020.

"Construction of the dairy farm is 25-percent complete. A sheep farm will be completed by mid-September and 2,000 sheep and 100 rams will be brought into the cluster. By 2021, the number of sheep of the Dorper breed is planned to reach 6,000," the PR director said.

According to him, now Jizzax Organic is restoring irrigation system on the territory of the cluster.

"A number of works were carried out to restore the irrigation system, including cleaning and restoration of a large section of the canal and restoration of water supply trays. A pump station was also built and 20 kilometers of main pipes were laid to supply water to sprinklers," Musin said.

He also noted that the cluster has recently purchased $9.6 million worth of agricultural machinery.

"In addition, Jizzax Organic received permission to purchase and use drones to automate a number of agricultural purposes. Thus, we will receive regular crop quality assessment, and we also can apply point fertilizers," Musin said.

The cluster accounts for eight percent of the Uzbek market at the moment.

"Due to its own feed base, the cluster will be able to supply products that are affordable for Uzbek citizens. For example, the price for meat produced by the Russian Miratorg is between $25 and $30 per kilogram in Uzbekistan. But, according to preliminary calculations, meat produced at Jizzax Organic will be available at prices ranging from $5 to $7 per kilogram," stated the PR director.

Jizzax Organic, established in accordance with the instruction of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev, is engaged in the production of meat and dairy products, crop farming and livestock breeding.
