About 60,000 tons of agricultural products were exported from the East Azerbaijan Province during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20-July 21, 2020), Director of Agriculture Department of East Azerbaijan Province Akbar Fathi told IRNA, Trend reports.
The director emphasized that the exports of agricultural products increased by 11 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Fathi added that the agricultural products of East Azerbaijan Province were exported to 54 countries, including, among others, Russia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The exported products mainly included dried fruits, vegetables and processed products including raisins and tomato paste,” he said.
The director noted that Iran exported $417 million worth of agricultural products from East Azerbaijan Province in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020). This is an increase of 43 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019).
Fathi said that despite some difficulties during the spread of the coronavirus, the agricultural production continued in the province.
Moreover, despite decrease in other sectors, agricultural production in the East Azerbaijan Province increased, he added.
