Review of Georgian exports to China

Georgia exported 135,523 tons of copper to China worth $200.6 million from January through July 2020, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the reporting period, Georgia exported 2,096 tons of fresh grapes worth $7.9 million to China.

Meanwhile, 17.1 tons of medical equipment and appliances worth $4.8 million were exported from Georgia to China. This is 23.6 tons decrease in comparison to January-July 2019.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported 1,083 tons of ginger, saffron, turmeric, thyme, bay leaves, curry, and other spices in the amount of $2.5 million to China. Compared to January through July 2019, the export of spices from Georgia to China amounted to 800.3 tons totaling $1.4 million.

Georgia also exported 9,139 tons of precious metals and concentrates worth $21.7 million to China.

From January through July 2020, the foreign trade turnover between Georgia and China amounted to more than $627.5 million, which makes up 10.4 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported products worth $248.2 million to the Chinese market, which is 14.1 percent of total exports from Georgia.

Meanwhile, China exports to Georgia amounted to $379.3 million, which comprises 8.9 percent of total imports to Georgia.
