Belgian foundation to invest in Uzbek Jizzakh region's development

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 28

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyera Khakimova and program director of Belgian BRIDGIN Foundation Christophe Preels, as well as official from the Jizzakh region Azim Akhmedkhadjaev discussed the implementation of investment projects in the social sphere of Jizzakh region in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing to Dunyo information agency.

During the video conference, the parties discussed current issues of the implementation of investment projects in the Jizzakh region in areas agreed by the parties such as medicine, water supply, agriculture, animal husbandry, education, fish farming and energy.

The approximate volume of investments in the implementation of these areas will be $200 million.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to the issues of socio-economic development, the creation of an open economy, healthy competition, a reduction in the state presence in the economy, the achievement of high rates of economic growth due to the diversification of the economy and an increase in labor productivity, the implementation of a stable monetary policy.

Public-private partnerships (PPPs) are a critical tool and enable governments to leverage the capital and expertise of the private sector to stimulate development where public funds are limited, and to balance risk between public and private actors in economic relations.

BRIDGIN Foundation is a public fund for the purpose of financing various projects in other countries. The source of financing for its activities are international financial structures (European Investment Bank, European Central Bank), donors (EU countries and institutions, UN), as well as donors from European countries, USA, Canada, Australia and others.
