Uzbekistan implements number of projects in Syrdarya region

The working group headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Sardor Umurzakov, studied issues related to the implementation of investment projects in Akaltyn, Mirzaabad, and Sardoba districts of Syrdarya region, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan's Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade.

The management of the working group was familiarized with the implementation of several projects. In particular, they visited Uzbek- Singapore JV Indorama Agro Cotton & Textile Cluster, which is being created in the Sardoba district and consists of a cotton processing plant and logistics center.

At present, construction work has been carried out at the plant with an area of 13 hectares. Implementation of this project will allow production in the amount of 35.2 billion soum ($3.4 million) per year and creating more than 250 new jobs. At the same time, it is projected to attract $60 million worth of foreign direct investments.

Among others, Umurzakov visited Sardoba Oqsaroy Textile enterprise located in the Sardoba district. The total cost of the project is 35.3 billion soum ($3.42 million), with an annual production capacity is 1.4 million units of finished products. This project is planned to be launched in September 2020.

At the Lemon Cluster of Mirzaabad district, construction workers have been completed and the installation of modern greenhouse equipment is actively underway. This greenhouse complex worth 30.3 billion soum ($2.9 million) will allow growing more than two million tons of lemon per year.

As a result of the working visit, the heads of ministries, agencies, commercial banks, and local authorities were given instructions to unify their efforts and ensure coordinated work to accelerate the implementation of investment projects in these areas through continuous supervision and assistance.
