The development of the ‘National mineral resources data bank’ information system is currently underway in Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan told Trend.

The ministry said that the system is planned to contain a single data bank on geological information - geological reports on all types of mineral resources.

According to the ministry, geological information to be stored within the information system will comply with the legislation on subsoil and subsoil use, all available geological information will be stored in electronic form and provided to the bank.

“In general, increasing the geological knowledge of Kazakhstan’s territory and ensuring the attraction of investments in geological exploration are among the main tasks of the bank. The bank will allow investors to easily conduct transactions and procedures online, which will significantly increase the interest of investors in exploration, thanks to the ability to access the system, services, and information anywhere in the world,” the ministry said.

“Thus, the functioning of the system will ensure the transparency of the processes of the Code of Kazakhstan ‘On Subsoil and Subsoil Use’ and access to geological information in line with the best world experience, which will lead to an increase in investments in geological exploration,” the ministry noted.

The ministry added that the creation of a national database of mineral resources is planned to be completed in 2021.
