Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, within the framework of customs cooperation, agree to ensure the unimpeded movement of goods and vehicles of third countries through the border checkpoints Uzbekistan’s Jartepa and Tajikistan’s Sarazm, Trend reports referring to the National News Agency of Tajikistan.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of the Tajik-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation by the head of the customs service of Tajikistan Khurshed Karimzoda and the first deputy chairman of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Anvar Asamov.

Uzbekistan occupies a strong position among five foreign trade partners of Tajikistan, and trade between the countries has increased 30 times, from $12 million in 2015 to $362 million in 2019.

At the end of the first half of 2020, trade with Uzbekistan amounted to more than $217 million, which is over 7 percent of Tajikistan's total trade with foreign countries.

In addition, the export of Tajik goods to Uzbekistan for eight months of 2020 amounted to $53 million, which is 24 percent of the total volume of Tajikistan's exports.

Meanwhile, imports of goods and products from Uzbekistan amounted to $164.6 million.
