Online education continues in Iranian schools

Iran's schools follow the decision of the National Headquarter to Fight Coronavirus to close schools for a week but education would continue online, said Minister of Education.

"The reports indicate that so far there were no signs that reopening of schools had effected the spread coronavirus," said Mohsen Hajj Mirzaei, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"There were various possibilities for learning including online training and physical attendance, the health experts and the National Headquarter to Fight Coronavirus are responsible to decide over the closure of schools, and since they have announced their decision on closure of schools (in Tehran for a week)we would follow it," he said.

He added that due to the recent announcement of the National Headquarter to Fight Coronavirus, no educational center or school should be active under any circumstances and any activity would be a violation of the law.

"We have constantly monitored the implementation of health protocols at schools and submitted its weekly reports to National Headquarter to Fight Coronavirus, our reports were acceptable so far. So far about $57 million has been provided for school's health per capita to protect student's health," he noted.

Additionally, there are 500,000 online classes active on the Shad network although there have been problems in cyberspace and the network operator is working to solve it.

"So far no students or teachers were infected with coronavirus and any individual with suspected symptoms should be prevented from schools," he added.
