Afghanistan's ambassador to Turkmenistan completes diplomatic mission

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan Najibullah Alikhil has completed his diplomatic mission, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Najibullah Alikhil on October 5, 2020, where the parties noted the positive results of cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, the report says.

The ambassador stressed the importance of joint projects, including the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, power transmission line and fiber-optic communication system along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.

Earlier, Rashid Meredov and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Mohammad Haneef Atmar discussed the promotion of joint transport and energy projects.

Earlier, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan signed a memorandum of understanding on land selection as part of the Afghan part of the TAPI gas pipeline project.

The Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI), also known as Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline, is a natural gas pipeline being developed by the Galkynysh – TAPI Pipeline Company Limited with participation of the Asian Development Bank.
