BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 22

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

The program of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of the agro-industrial complex is designed to transfer relations between the two countries in agriculture to a completely new stage, Trade Representative of Russia in Azerbaijan Ruslan Mirsayapov told Trend.

According to Mirsayapov, the program provides for not only the exchange of agricultural food products but also the supply of modern plant and animal protection products, high-tech agricultural machinery, the creation of the necessary logistics infrastructure, the exchange of experience in the field of veterinary medicine and the fight against infections in the field of crop production.

The trade representative reminded that cooperation programs in the field of agriculture and tourism were signed on December 9, 2019, within the Eighteenth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Between Russia and Azerbaijan.

“Exhibition and fair events are of undoubted interest for the business circles of the two countries. The current anti-pandemic restrictions have reduced their number. But despite this Azerbaijani producers successfully participated in a number of specialized exhibitions in Russia in 2020. Within the Prodexpo 2020 exhibition, held in February in Moscow, Azerbaijani companies signed contracts for the export of products worth 14 million manat ($8.23 million), according to which more than 10 million manat ($5.8 million) of goods have already been exported. At the Worldfood Moscow 2020 exhibition held in September, Azerbaijan was represented by a single national stand,” said the trade representative.

Thirty Azerbaijani companies presented their products: pomegranate juice, hazelnuts, wines, and other alcoholic beverages, fruits and vegetables, mineral waters, confectionery and flour products, tea, jam, dried fruits, compote, lemonade, Mirsayapov added.

Azerbaijan and Russia have signed cooperation programs in the fields of agriculture and tourism for 2020-2022. The documents were signed following a meeting on Dec. 9, 2019, in Baku by the Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. In particular, the parties signed the Program of Cooperation in the field of the agro-industrial complex for 2020-2022. The documents were signed by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Oreshkin.
