With the support of the Rural Development Agency in the Georgian village of Sighnaghi, another refrigeration unit was put into operation, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Ilya Tamarashvili, Director of the Rural Development Agency, visited the farm of the Georgian Fruit Cooperative together with the acting representative of the Kakheti region, Irakli Shiolashvili.

“Financial support from the state is an important incentive for farmers and those interested in agribusiness to develop production. Since 2013, in the Kakheti region 82 new enterprises have been financed with the help of the state,” Tamarashvili said.

Georgian Fruit agricultural cooperative was registered in 2019. In total, more than 1 million lari ($311,717) has been invested in the cooperative, of which 600,000 lari ($187,030) is a grant, and a preferential agricultural loan exceeds 600,000 lari ($187,030).

The rest of the money is invested by the members of the cooperative. The refrigerated farm can store 800-1,000 tons of fruit. The cooperative plans to sell its products to the local and international market. The cooperative employs 15 seasonally, 10 people permanently.
