The export of Azerbaijani goods to Belarus in the past nine months of 2020 amounted to $130.9 million, increasing by 7.4 times compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports on Oct.26 citing the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
According to the ministry, the share of Belarus in the total export volume of Azerbaijan for the reporting period made up 1.24 percent against 0.1 percent in the same period of 2019.
From January through September 2020, the import of Belarusian goods to Azerbaijan decreased up to $82.4 million against $129.8 million in the same period of last year. Thus, the share of Belarus in the total import volume of Azerbaijan went down from 1.25 percent to 1.05 percent year on year.
The foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and Austria made up $213.3 million.
Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus remained positive during the reporting period and topped $48.4 million.
In general, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover made up $18.4 billion from January through September 2020, which is a 1.4 times decline year on year.
The balance of foreign trade turnover on an annualized basis dropped by 1.6 times, but nevertheless remained positive, amounting to over $2.7 billion.
The main priorities of interaction between the two countries are industrial cooperation, joint projects in the fields of science and technology, as well as investment cooperation. The basis of Belarusian exports to Azerbaijan is made up of engineering products, oil refining, woodworking, food, medicines, and other goods.
Belarus imports from Azerbaijan crude oil, ethylene polymers, cotton fiber, acyclic hydrocarbons, transformers, oil products.
Cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation is expanding, the number of investment projects is growing. Direct and long-term contacts have been established between the scientific environments of the two countries, joint research projects are being implemented. Cooperation in the service sector is expanding.
