Iran to operate desalination plant in Bandar Abbas

TEHRAN, Iran, October 27

The national mega desalination project with a sweetening water capacity of 1 million cubic meters has been executed in Bandar Abbas, said the Governor of Hormozgan Province.

"The projects have been constructed by €500 million and 80,000 billion rials (about$1.9 billion) investment," said Fereydoun Hemmati, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The first phase of the project will be operated soon that would provide drinking water and industrial water for Hormozgan, Kerman, and Yazd provinces. The first phase would cover industry, agriculture, and drinking water with 200,000 cubic meters per day" he said.

According to Hemmati, the marine industries and especially building ships are considered important capacities of Hormozgan Province and the president ordered the formation of the high council of marine industries to support the sector.

"There are various organizations in the maritime sector but due to disagreement between organizations the development maritime sector was little," he noted.

The parliament has approved the law to support and develop maritime industries in 2018 support that various ministries involved in the high council of the maritime industry are a ministry of industries, mine, and trade, oil, economic affair and finance, transportation, defense and arm forces, agriculture.

The governor of Hormozgan has also indicated that the governorate seeks to solve the obstacles in other industries and demands a supply of basic material to industrial factories for the production of food items.
