Main part of potato exports from Georgia falls on Russia and Azerbaijan

Some 2,929.8 tons of fresh or frozen potatoes were sold from Georgia under the 0701 trademark in the first nine months of this year, Trend reports citing Georgian National Statistics Service (Geostat).

Most of the potato exports went to Russia and Azerbaijan.

This year, Georgia sold 1,663.6 tons of potatoes worth $669,100 to Russia. Compared to last year, the data has increased significantly. Last year, Georgia exported 57.3 tons of potatoes worth $23,500 to Russia.

As for the second-largest market for potato exports to Georgia, 1,122.8 tons of potatoes worth $195,800 were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan this year. Compared to last year, the data has significantly reduced. In 2019, Georgia earned $573,900 from 3,212.3 tons of fresh or frozen potatoes sold in Azerbaijan.

Last year, Georgia sold 320.0 tons of potatoes in Turkmenistan, 227.1 tons in Ukraine, and 39.7 tons in Iraq. Potato exports to these three countries are no longer recorded this year. In 2019, the value of potatoes exported to these three countries was $349,000.

The annual export of potatoes to Belarus has increased from 19.4 tons to 81.4 tons, while the income from the export of potatoes has increased from $4,800 to 12,300 in one year.
