The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sulaymaniyah (Iraq) Mehdi Shustari, stressed that the goal of Iran and Iraq is to reach $20 billion in trade per year, Trend reports via IRNA.
Referring to Iran's economic relations with Kurdistan Region and Sulaimaniyah province, Shushtari, the newly appointed Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sulaymaniyah, said that according to the agreement of the two sides, trade exchanges during the coronavirus outbreak continued in compliance with all health protocols at the borders.
Shustari also said that the common borders of Iran and Iraq (Parviz Khan” and “Bashmaq"), as well as 4 border markets, help to develop the relations between the two countries.
Iran's exports to Iraq stood at $9 billion in the past Iranian year, which ended on March 21, 2020.
Meanwhile, despite the lockdown, Iran has exported some 5 million tons of commodities worth of $1.45 billion to Iraq over the first three months of the current Iranian year.
