Turkmenistan commits developing dialogue with Japan in all areas

Turkmenistan is committed to developing a dialogue with Japan in all areas of mutual interest, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The discussions were held on November 16, 2020, during the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Turkmenistan Yamamoto Hiroyuki.

The parties noted the fruitful nature of the Turkmen-Japanese cooperation at the interstate and interdepartmental levels.

The sides discussed issues of cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields, there was also a performance of partner countries in the framework of regional and international organizations, primarily the UN.

In addition, the effectiveness of Japanese companies in Turkmenistan, in particular, in the oil and gas and chemical industries, was noted.

The participants stressed the need for further intensification of relations in the field of education, science, and culture.

As reported, Turkmenistan and Japan successfully cooperate within the framework of international organizations, in particular within the UN. In recent years, cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields has increased.

A number of major projects have been implemented with the participation of Japanese companies. Among them - ammonia and urea plant in Turkmenistan's city of Mary, a urea plant and polymer complex in the Balkan region, an enterprise for the production of gasoline from natural gas in the Akhal region.

Japan has also shown interest in participating in projects to develop the industrial infrastructure of the Galkynysh gas field.
