Copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items in Georgia, equaling $618.6 million or 22.8 percent of total exports from January through October 2020, Trend reports citing National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The exports of motor cars totaled $335.6 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 12.4 percent. The ferroalloys exports occupied the third-place standing at $198.3 million and constituting 7.3 percent of the total exports.
The top import commodities from January through October 2020 were motor cars whose imports equaled $623.3 million (9.7 percent of the total imports). The copper ores and concentrates followed in the list with $450.4 million or 7 percent of imports. The petroleum and petroleum oils were third in the top import commodity list with $412.4 million (6.4 percent of imports).
The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $9.15 billion from January through October 2020, 15 percent lower than the same period of 2019.
The exports equaled $2.71 billion (11.1 percent lower), while the imports stood at $6.44 billion (16.6 percent lower). The negative trade balance was $3.72 billion from January through October 2020 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 40.7 percent.
