Uzbekistan and the US have agreed on launching a new format of closer cooperation - the Strategic Partnership Dialogue, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uzbekistan.
The parties announced the decision of their governments to transform the annual bilateral consultations between the US and Uzbekistan into a Strategic Partnership Dialogue. Uzbekistan and the US intend to develop closer cooperation in the fields of politics, security, economics, and the human dimension within the framework of this dialogue.
Countries plan to hold the first Dialogue in Tashkent in 2021.
The US delegation also called for further deepening of ties on a wide range of political, economic interaction, education, health care, security, culture and other areas, reiterating its strong support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan.
The parties highlighted the increasing opportunities for bilateral trade and investment, including opportunities for US exporters and public tenders, and the opening by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan of a special office to support US investments.
"The parties discussed concrete ways to expand educational and cultural exchanges to provide today's youth with the skills needed for future leaders, including plans to return US Peace Corps volunteers to Uzbekistan, support for cultural heritage preservation programs, and significantly expand programs for teachers and students on the study and teaching of English, mathematics and reading," the Foreign Ministry stressed.
