Iran’s Wagon Pars Company discloses number of manufactured wagons

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 3

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran’s Wagon Pars Company has manufactured 380 freight and passenger wagons since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020), Managing Director of the company Mohammad Reza Mokhtari told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director emphasized that 310 of the manufactured wagons were delivered to operating companies.

He added that 8-20 billion rials (about $190,000-$476,000) are spent on the manufacturing of each freight wagon.

While on the manufacturing of each passenger wagon, about 120 billion rials (about $2.85 million) is spent, according to Mokhtari.

The director noted that so far, 15 passenger wagons have been delivered to Iranian operating companies.

“The rise in the price of raw materials results in the inability of operating companies to pay for the wagons they order. Based on this, the government should provide some supports,” he said.

Mokhtari said that if loans are provided to operating companies, they can pay money for Wagon Pars Company. As result, 700 freight and passenger cars can be manufactured in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, to March 21, 2021).

The Wagon Pars Company was established in 1975. In 1985, it was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO). The company has so far manufactured more than 12,000 freight railcars, 400 passenger railcars, and 300 subway railcars.
