Cotton picking process is being completed in Azerbaijan this week, Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture.
"Until December 11, farmers have collected 331,649 tons of cotton from the fields and supplied to the cotton warehouses," the ministry said. "This is by 36,649 tons more than last year."
This week, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Association of Fish Producers and Exporters Zaur Salmanli spoke about the plans for 2021.
"The association intends to start to export the products to the new markets in Europe," Salmanli said. "We have the plans to supply fish and fish products to Russia in 2021."
"Fish and fish products were mainly imported to Azerbaijan from Russia, Chile, Norway, China, Iran, Georgia, Japan and Turkey from January through November 2020," chairman said.
"During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported fish and other seafood worth $16.4 million," the chairman said.
"Azerbaijan will export a batch of hazelnuts to Russia and Italy till the end of 2020," Chairman of the Azerbaijani Association of Hazelnut Producers and Exporters Ismayil Orujov said this week.
"Azerbaijani hazelnuts are used in Italy in the production of chocolate and other confectionery products of Ferrero company," Orujov said.
Orujov stressed that the government's measures to promote products to the foreign markets under the Made in Azerbaijan brand also contribute to the expansion of supplies.
Moreover, Azerbaijan plans to start to produce Virginia tobacco in 2021, as the most suitable type for cultivation given the local climate.
Some 17 types of seeds of this variety, imported from the US, Brazil, France and Hungary, were tested in the experimental fields of Azertutun agro-industrial complex in 2020.
Proceeding from the expert opinion, a decision on the choice of the optimal type of seeds for growing in Azerbaijani climate will be made.
