Iran imported about 309,000 tons of bananas worth $210 million during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.
According to Latifi, while in the same period last Iranian year, Iran imported about 334,000 tons of bananas worth $226 million.
Latifi added that Iran imported 161,000 tons of bananas worth $111 million from Turkey, 59,500 tons worth $35.7 million from India, 44,400 tons worth $31.5 million from the Philippines and 39,600 tons worth $29.2 million from Ecuador over the 9 months.
The spokesman emphasized that Iran also imported 2,870 tons of bananas worth $1.87 million from Pakistan, 702 tons worth $432,000 from the UAE, 63.8 tons worth $47,900 from Russia and 60 tons of bananas worth $34,600 from Vietnam.
