The Federal Service for Veterinary Surveillance and Phytosanitary Control in Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) allowed the import of dried fruits to Russia from the Fergana region of Uzbekistan from January 1, 2021, Trend reports referring to Rosselkhoznadzor.

According to the information, the decision of the service is based on the results of negotiations with the State Plant Quarantine Inspection under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan and guarantees given by the Uzbek side.

The corresponding restrictions were introduced at the beginning of December 2020 in connection with the identification of a pest in a batch of dried apricots.

Rosselkhoznadzor also pointed out that now the supply of dried fruits will be carried out with the obligatory indication in phytosanitary certificates of information about the name of the manufacturer and his address in the column “additional declaration”, as well as on the product labeling.

In addition, each batch of dried fruits arriving from the Fergana region of Uzbekistan will be accompanied by a preliminary electronic notification and laboratory test protocols confirming the phytosanitary safety of products.

Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor authorized the supply of tomatoes to Russia from 34 Uzbek enterprises under the guarantees of the State Plant Quarantine Inspectorate under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan from January 1, 2021.

The decision was made on the basis of information provided by the State Plant Quarantine Inspectorate under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on enterprises free from the brown wrinkle virus of tomato fruits.
