Azerbaijan doubles fish, seafood exports

Azerbaijan increased the export of fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic life from January through November 2020, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

According to the SCC, in the first 11 months of this year, Azerbaijan exported fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic inhabitants worth $1.057 million to foreign markets.

The exports have almost doubled over the year, the report said.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported fish and other seafood worth over $18.9 million.

Currently, Azerbaijan Fish Farm company is implementing several projects aimed at the development of aquaculture, including the fishing industry.

These projects cover various districts of Azerbaijan and envisage the cultivation of 1,000 tons (portioned and fillet) of rainbow trout, the production of 850 tons of sturgeon fish, and 10 tons of black caviar by the end of 2020.
