Azerbaijan has increased the export of fish and crustaceans, mollusks, and other aquatic invertebrates in 2020, Trend reports referring to the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.
According to the SCC bulletin, Azerbaijan’s export of the mentioned products to foreign markets for 2020 amounted $1.28 million, having almost doubled compared to 2019.
During the past year, Azerbaijan imported fish and other seafood worth over $21.7 million.
At present, the Azerbaijan Fish Farm company is implementing several projects aimed at the development of aquaculture, including the fishery industry.
These projects cover various regions of Azerbaijan and envisaged the cultivation of 1,000 tons (portioned and fillet) of rainbow trout, the production of 850 tons of sturgeon fish, and 10 tons of black caviar by the end of 2020.
