Azerbaijan's spending on textiles' import notably up in 2020

Azerbaijan exported finished textiles worth over $20.2 million as of early 2021, which is decrease of 8.3 percent or $1.83 million on an annualized basis, Trend reports on Feb.8 referring to the statistical bulletin of the country’s State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to the bulletin, the share of these products in Azerbaijan's total exports reached 0.15 percent, while in 2019 this share was equal to 0.11 percent.

Expenses of Azerbaijan for importing finished textile products grew by $23.5 million or 69.4 percent over the year, amounting to $57.3 million. The share of these products in total imports of the country made up 0.53 percent, having risen by 0.28 percentage point year on year," the SCC bulletin said.

As of January 1, 2020, the volume of foreign trade turnover of finished textile products amounted to $77.6 million, having grown by 38.7 percent or over $21.6 million compared to 2019.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in 2020 made up over $24.4 billion. Of these, more than $13.7 billion, or 56.15 percent, accounted for exports, and the remaining $10.7 billion, or 43.85 percent, for imports.
