Significant work done on water and electricity sectors in Iran – minister

As many as 294 water and electricity facilities worth 660 trillion rials (about $15.7 billion) have been put into operation in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020), Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of water and electricity facilities in the Yazd Province (central Iran) yesterday on March 6.

The minister noted that however, 250 water and electricity facilities worth 500 trillion rials (about $11.9 billion) were to be launched in Iran in the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

Ardakanian added that the examples of the mentioned facilities are 12 water reservoirs, 10 filtration centers, water supply to 1,250 villages, 8 power plant blocks, 30 small-scale power plants, 25 alternative renewable power plants.

On March 6, four large water and electricity facilities were put into operation in Iran's Yazd Province at a cost of 3.9 trillion rials (about $92.8 million).
