Pellet plant put into operation in Iran's Yazd Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 9

The pellet plant in the Bafq County of Yazd Province (central Iran) will produce 5 million tons of pellets per year, Executive Director of Iran Central Iron Ore Company (ICIOC), Reza Fallah Mobarakeh said, Trend reports citing the IRNA.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of the plant on March 8.

The director stressed that 1.85 billion yuan (about $284 million) was spent on the plant and 778 people were employed.

Mobarakeh added that with the launch of this plant, the sale of 4 million tons of iron ore produced annually in the Bafq County in raw form will be reduced by 23 percent.

“The construction of the plant began in 2015 as part of a consortium of Chinese, Japanese and Iranian companies,” he said.

The director noted that the raw materials for the plant will be supplied with concentrate extracted from the 19 Dey, North Anomaly and Chahgaz mines.
