Iran's trade with SCO member states announced

Iran's trade turnover with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states amounted to 41.7 million tons worth more than $23.2 billion during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration’s website.

According to Latifi, Iran's largest trade turnover between the 11 member countries of the organization was with China worth about $15.5 billion.

Latifi added that Iran exported 33.3 million tons of goods worth about $11.2 billion to the SCO member states within 11 months.

The spokesman noted that Iran exported the largest amount of goods to China – worth $6.72 billion, and the least to Mongolia – worth about $413,000.

“Iran exported various types of fish, vegetables, fruits, fabrics, industrial and agricultural equipment, household appliances, carpets, petrochemicals, pistachios and sweet stuffs to these countries over the reporting period,” he said.

In addition, Iran imported about 8.4 million tons of goods worth about $12 billion from the SCO member states in 11 months. So, Iran imported the largest amount of goods from China – worth $8.79 billion, the least – from Mongolia worth $2.44 million, Latifi stressed.

The official also said that the imported products to Iran were mainly raw materials, spare parts of equipment in the industrial sector, red meat, medicines, chemicals, medical equipment, automotive spare parts, fabrics and so on.

As reported, Iran's foreign trade turnover for 11 months amounted to 134 million tons worth $65.5 billion.

So, Iran exported 103 million tons of goods worth $31.2 billion and imported 30.8 million tons worth $34.3 billion over the reporting period.

The eleven countries are permanent members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization - China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Belarus.
