Georgia aims to help its scientists commercialize their inventions

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 20

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia will help local scientists commercialize their inventions through the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency, said Economy Minister Natia Turnava, Trend reports via Georgian media.

“This is a very good bridge between science and business,” Turnava said.

As she noted, nine different inventions have already been selected, developed at the institutes of metallurgy, inorganic chemistry and geophysics, as well as at the medical and agricultural universities of Georgia.

“This decision will help Georgian scientists find interested investors for their inventions and thereby serve the national and global economy,” she said.

The Agency for Innovation and Technology has already received financial and technical support from the European Union and the World Bank to implement a pilot technology transfer project involving World Bank experts who, together with local experts, will evaluate projects and develop commercialization plans.
