The licenses were issued for the establishment of 21 enterprises in the processing industry in the agricultural sector in the Qazvin Province (western Iran), Director of the Agricultural Department of Qazvin Province Fatemeh Khamseh said, Trend reports citing the department’s website.
The director emphasized that these enterprises will produce a total of 258,000 tons of food and other products a year.
Khamseh added that 5.17 trillion rials (about $123 million) will be spent on the establishment of these enterprises and more than 1,000 people will be employed.
“The processing industry is a very important area in the agricultural sector. So, it prevents the conversion of agricultural products into waste, creates conditions for sustainable development, adds value to the agriculture sector, and leads to an increase in farmers' revenues,” she said.
Reportedly, more than 4 million tons of agricultural products are produced in Iran's Qazvin Province per year.
