Austrian companies implement large ropeway projects for winter sports in Georgian Bakuriani

Austrian companies invested $500,000 in Georgia in the last year, the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs told Trend.

"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic 2020 was an extremely difficult year for our respective economies and businesses," the ministry said.

According to the ministry, in 2020, Austrian construction companies completed the construction of large ropeway projects for winter sports in Bakuriani.

As the source noted, in the past, Austrian companies have realized several projects in Georgia especially in the sphere of hydropower, infrastructure, and logistics.

"The activities and projects of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in Georgia are of particular relevance, focusing on rural development, sustainable mountain tourism, and local development," the ministry said.

Austria and Georgia established diplomatic relations in 1992 and Georgia opened its embassy in Vienna in 1996. Austria is represented in Georgia through a nonresident ambassador based in Vienna, and through an honorary consulate in Tbilisi. Georgia has an embassy in Vienna and an honorary consulate in Graz.
