Copper ores and concentrates top Georgian exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19

Copper ores and concentrates reclaimed first place in the list of top export items in Georgia, equaling $158.8 million or 19.4 percent of total exports from January through March 2021, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The exports of motor cars totaled $86.6 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 10.5 percent.

The ferroalloys exports occupied the third-place standing at $83.7 million and constituting 10.2 percent of the total exports.

The top import commodities from January through March 2021 were motor cars whose imports equaled $168.5 million (8.6 percent of the total imports).

The copper ores and concentrates followed in the list with $145.8 million or 7.5 percent of imports.

The petroleum and petroleum oils were third in the top import commodity list with $141.9 million (7.3 percent of imports).

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $2.77 billion from January through March 2021, 0.3 percent lower than the same period of 2020. The exports equaled $820.6 million (5.2 percent higher), while the imports stood at $1.95 billion (2.4 percent lower).
