Georgia opens regional beekeeping center via support of Chezch investors

With the assistance of the Czech Development Agency, the Tbilisi City Hall and the Agora Association, a multifunctional regional beekeeping center was opened in Tbilisi, Trend reports via Georgian media.

As reported, more than 400,000 euros were invested in the project.

The center has a modern beekeeping lab.

"A multifunctional regional beekeeping center has been created, the strategic goal of which is to develop urban agriculture and present a broader vision of Tbilisi as a 'green' city," said Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi Andria Basilai.

According to him, this project once again underlines the close cooperation of the Tbilisi City Hall with the private sector, international partners and donor organizations.

The parties signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at establishing permanent support for the Beekeeping Center.

In 2020, 21.7 tons of honey were exported from Georgia, which is 15.3 tons (3.4 times) more than in 2019. Exports were mainly carried out to the EU countries (12.9 tons), which is 6.7 times more than in 2019.
